In our modern Kintsugi workshop, using Urushi lacquer, you will have the opportunity to repair broken ceramic pieces with a traditional Japanese lacquer made from the sap of the Urushi tree.

Unlike alternative methods, this technique is safe for food contact, which means your restored pieces can be used again to serve food and drinks.

Our lovely Kintsugi Sensei, Miyuki Hioki, will guide you through each step of the process, demonstrating the techniques and helping you to restore your own piece.

If you do not have a broken item to bring, simply let us know on the registration form and we will provide one for you.

This workshop will be held primarily in English, with a touch of Japanese, and Portuguese translation will be available if needed.

Requirements for the pieces you bring to restore
  • Maximum of two pieces
  • Medium-sized (something that fits in your hands
  • Broken into two or three parts
  • Glazed ceramic, for the best results
  • Box fitted to the piece for transport after restoration

*Please note that Urushi lacquer may cause skin irritation in some people. As a precaution, gloves will be provided to avoid direct contact with the skin.
